A trainer, a writer, a professional counsellor, a social worker, a motivational speaker and an activist, Abha Khetarpal, is a National Award winner felicitated by the President of India and one of the 100 Women Achievers in India. She is the first woman from India to be honoured with Henry Viscardi Achievement Award. She is the member of D-30 (2020) Disability Impact list.
Being a person with disability herself, she very well understands the issues relating to the disability sector. She has been relentlessly working for the protection of the human rights of persons with disabilities in the areas of accessibility, education and health since ten years
As a trainer she has trained around thousand persons with disabilities, parents, advocates and organizations/facilitators in Disability Etiquette and Awareness and Comprehensive Sexuality Education.
She has been counselling person with disabilities for ten years. Her services free of charges.
She has authored 10 books for persons with disabilities like ‘Keeping You Abreast; A handbook on breast cancer self examination’, ‘Going with the Flow; Handbook on Menstrual Management & Hygiene’ and a Manual on Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights of Women with Disabilities in India. Many of her articles have been published in national and international journals.
Abha Khetarpal is also the President of a disability rights organization, Cross the Hurdles and a prominent disability rights advocate.
